Last time Adrian said mama I got so happy and thought this is it, but there and then he never said it again until yesterday:) He was sitting in his chair, hungry, waiting for the food and then it came mamama. I got as happy as first time but wondered if it will be like last time. But then today again he sid mamama and now I suspect that he is slowly getting the meaning of mama. In his world mama probably means food?
parenting/ roditeljstvo
Priceless / Neprocjenjivo
Some people would pay millions for some paintings (old post) but I have my own artist that is quite active in producing new paintings. She decided to paint grandpa. I think she really misses him. This painting we call “Grandpa sitting in the sofa and watching tv.” Grandpa also said that he absolutely wants this picture so said and done we framed it. Now it is just waiting for grandpa to come and pick it up 🙂
As you mìght know I am THE unreligious person so imagine my surprise yesterday as I was told that the whole next week kindergarten was to be closed. I love my childen BUT I am still not recovered from the everlasting serial of cold, flu, tonsillitis and so on and thus for the moment I don’t feel for spending 24/7 for a week alone with the children. I am horrible I admit. Yesterday they had a eastern breakfast at kindergarten so children could bring cakes or other things they wanted to. Ada and I decieded to make cinemon buns. Ada loves baking and it was a mother daughter moment of bonding.
The basket she made herself / Korpu je sama napravila 🙂
A Michelin star / Michelin zvijezda
Or not 🙂
Today, Adrian ate his first solid food or rather he tried it. It was cooked carrot but he didn’t like it too much. That is quite a difference from Ada that was eating everything….I hope it is only a phase and he gets used to the food 🙂
First parent-teacher meeting / Prvi roditeljski sastanak
The first meeting we would have regarding Ada was today at 8.00h and what happened. We overslept! Imagine our panic when we got up and ran through the apartment to pack all our stuff to get to the kindergarten in time. Ensar was finished first with Ada so they left first and and after came I with Adrian, with the second car because I didn’t want to miss the first development talk with her preschool teacher. I came half an hour late…for the first meeting! So embarrassing, but at least I came 😛
The meeting itself was very interesting. I found it quite fascinating how they have followed her development the last half a year. How they read her as person. I found it fascinating to hear specific things about this little person you call your daughter. How she is and what she does. How her personality is developing. I was sitting there and thinking woow. I have a great daughter!

Sjedila sam tamo i kontala u sebi -“woow, imam super kćerku!”.
Fed up / Dosta mi je
For months now there is always someone in the family being sick. Ada is coughing for months. She hardly hears because of all the fluid behind her ears. Adrian is on antibiotics because we do not want to risk pneumonia and on top of that I had to go to the doctor because I am coughing like some old smoker. Doctor listened to my lungs and said oh you need antibiotics. So now I have to take antibiotics, Adrian is taking them and since we do not know whether Ada is just coughing or she also has a problem I have to take her too to the doctor. I am so FED UP with it.
“MAMA” for the first time / Mama – prvi put
Today, Ada wrote “MAMA” for the first time )ok not 100% correct but still). She did it all by herself so I got so surprised. She already knows how to spell her name but had some problems with the letter “D”, so I told her that “D” is a line “I” with a belly. She remembered it but still asked if she wrote it correct 🙂
Adrian on the other hand is still sick with fever and very bad caughing. He talks much when he is ok and has already said something similar to “mama” a couple of times but I think it was more an coinsidence than purpose. Still it made me happy 🙂
First touch / Prvi dodir
There is something magical with the spring and how all nature wakes up from the winter sleep. We went to the Karlsruhe Castle park to enjoy the 24 degrees and the beautiful day.
Here, for the first time, Adrian experienced to lay on the grass and to touch it with his small little hands. It was fun to watch his reaction. He was like a little scientist checking it all out touching, smelling, watching. He was playing with it for some 10 minutes which is an eternity in his world. He loved it 🙂
Otišli smo do Karlsruhe palače i uživali smo u 24 stepena i u prelijepom danu.
It is funny how languages can provide kind of a status to a person. I have for example met a lot of East European people that do not teach their children the mother tongue. They come up with some weird arguments of how a child has to learn one language properly first or they do not need it anyway because they live in Germany / Sweden. The people around us will also not say anything to it. If the situation would be that the parents speak German, English or French people would consider you an idiot not teaching your children your language.
I have also through my whole life never ever met a person being sad having been thought an additional language be it swahili or English. However, I have met a lot of people that where sad that their parents have NOT taught them their mother tongue. Some of them where really disappointed and meant that the parents should have left the choice to them whether to use or not to use the language.
My husband and I have decided to teach Ada Swedish and Bosnian. She also learns German in kindergarten. Additional to that she speaks some English also, probably from the cartoons.
It is soo amazing how fast she switches between the languages and how well she speaks all the languages. One thing though that fascinates me most is how logical she thinks and it is funny how the language would sound without the irregular verbs…cool 🙂
Semla time / Vrijeme za semle
Ada loves to bake and play in the kitchen. To bake with my daughter usually ends up with a kitchen where it looks like a bomb has exploded but she gets so happy to bake that I cannot resist her wish 🙂
Here is Ada´s first “Semla”.
Evo Adine prve Semle.
