Frankfurt Airport / Frankfurt aerodrome

My brother had the connecting flight at Frankfurt airport and was to stay there for a couple of hours giving us the opportunity to come and meet him there. It took us 1.5h to get there and I am pretty sure that some people wouldn’t travel 1.5h to meet but for me it is important that my children meet there uncles or any other family. I believe in quantity rather than quality time with family.

Munich visit / Posjeta u Minhenu

Last week Ensar had a workshop in Munich so we decided to go to Munich altogether. I thought I will manage to visit all my friends but it was impossible. So I am sorry for the ones I didn’t manage to meet and I hope to meet you soon. I will come to Munich as soon as I can. Here are some pictures from the week.
The most funny thing is though that Adrians first tooth came. Today his second tooth came. He is getting big very fast now 🙂

Weekend in pictures / Weekend u slikama

On Saturday I got a very nice visit from my dear friend Lejla. Unfortunately, she couldn’t stay longer but I prefer to have a short visit then no visit. Ada was so excited to see Lena again so she couldn’t fall asleep until 23h. Still she was up early next morning. That I find amazing with children.

On Sunday it was really beautiful weather so we decided to take a walk in the Zoo. We met up with a couple of friends and their kids and so Ada was really enjoying having playmates. It was really a beautiful Sunday 🙂

Fed up / Dosta mi je

For months now there is always someone in the family being sick. Ada is coughing for months. She hardly hears because of all the fluid behind her ears. Adrian is on antibiotics because we do not want to risk pneumonia and on top of that I had to go to the doctor because I am coughing like some old smoker. Doctor listened to my lungs and said oh you need antibiotics. So now I have to take antibiotics, Adrian is taking them and since we do not know whether Ada is just coughing or she also has a problem I have to take her too to the doctor. I am so FED UP with it.

There is the Chinese saying “A healthy man has thousands of wishes, a sick man has just one“. I feel a little like that. Somehow we don´t manage to get healthy. For months we have been sick and last night was horror with Adrian. He could hardly breath and I had to hold him in my arms the whole night. Today, the doctor than decided to give him antibiotics to lower the risk of pneumonia. Just 5 months old he has to take antibiotics. I feel so sad about it. On the other hand I do feel grateful there are any antibiotics at all.
Since, I am also sick for ages I have decided to start a “boost”- week. I have bought Orthomol immun and drink Floradix so that hopefully I also recover. So instead of go shopping stuff I really want to, I have started the spring shopping with medicine. Arghhh…

First touch / Prvi dodir

There is something magical with the spring and how all nature wakes up from the winter sleep. We went to the Karlsruhe Castle park to enjoy the 24 degrees and the beautiful day.
Here, for the first time, Adrian experienced to lay on the grass and to touch it with his small little hands. It was fun to watch his reaction. He was like a little scientist checking it all out touching, smelling, watching. He was playing with it for some 10 minutes which is an eternity in his world. He loved it 🙂 Ima nešto čarobno kad proljeće dođe i priroda se probudi iz svog zimskog sna. Otišli smo do Karlsruhe palače i uživali smo u 24 stepena i u prelijepom danu.

It is funny how languages can provide kind of a status to a person. I have for example met a lot of East European people that do not teach their children the mother tongue. They come up with some weird arguments of how a child has to learn one language properly first or they do not need it anyway because they live in Germany / Sweden. The people around us will also not say anything to it. If the situation would be that the parents speak German, English  or French people would consider you an idiot not teaching your children your language.
I have also through my whole life never ever met a person being sad having been thought an additional language be it swahili or English. However, I have met a lot of people that where sad that their parents have NOT taught them their mother tongue. Some of them where really disappointed and meant that the parents should have left the choice to them whether to use or not to use the language.
My husband and I have decided to teach Ada Swedish and Bosnian.  She also learns German in kindergarten. Additional to that she speaks some English also, probably from the cartoons.
It is soo amazing how fast she switches between the languages and how well she speaks all the languages. One thing though that fascinates me most is how logical she thinks and it is funny how the language would sound without the irregular verbs…cool 🙂

Friends visiting / Prijatelji u posjeti

Last Thursday to Sunday we got visit from our very good friends Suada and Đenan with their kids. The weather was great so we spent the whole Friday in Karlsruhe city center. We went to Schloss Karlsruhe and its beautiful botanical garden. Ada stayed at home from kindergarten to spend time with her old friends.
On Saturday we went to Strasbourg. I love it. I could stroll the streets for hours. This time we mostly ran after the kids but still the ambient was cute. One thing I will remember from this trip was the whole day fight between the children of who can stand at the standing board of the buggy. Funny how one remembers things like that.

Išli smo do palače u gradu i u divnu botaničku baštu.
U subotu smo otišli u divni grad Strasbourg.

When I was a kid I rememeber how my mother washed the plastic bags to reuse them. I don’t know if they were expensive or if it was just the way of thinking….why throw perfectly good things.
When I see the tons of garbage my family itself produces I wonder how we can decrease these huge amount of trash. For the sake of the future of our children and because no one wants to have a dump in front of their house.
Imagine in Germany and Sweden there are around 90 milion people altogether. If every person uses just 1 plastic bag per year that means we throw 90 milion bags per year. It is literally a mountain of plastic bags.
I have until now used minimum 1-2 bags per DAY.  Imagine 90 millions people using x 2 bags x 365 = 65 700 000 000 bags per year!!! Just in Sweden and Germany…
I have decided from now on to try to minimize the amount of plastic bags we use and appel you to reduce as much as possible. Even if is just one bag less per year it will be millions of bags less per year…Sjećam se kad sam bila mala kako je moja mama prala kese i ponovo su se koristile.

A walk in Karlsruhe Zoo/ Šetnja kroz zološki vrt

My parents have come to visit us in Karlsruhe and ut looks like they brought us great weather. Days like these are perfect for a walk in Karlsruhe Zoo. We saw an albino kangaroo that was so cute that Ada wanted to take it home. She was very fascinated of how kangaroos are jumping around. All in all we really enjoyed the time at Zoo.
Sve u svemu smo lijepo proveli vrijeme u zoološkom vrtu.
