BRRaaa

1

Today Ada said R for zna first time:) The first word she managed to say with a proper R was (the swedish)  “bra” (means good). She got so happy she terrorised us for an hour and a half rolling her R’s. She said Rrriba (means fish) and danced around telling happily that she wants to show her sister (PZ) what she has learned. But the most I loved was the expression of her face the moment she managed to pronounce it correctly. Priceless 🙂
This was the perfect ending after a day in the zoo.

The playground at the zoo. A little bit too high for my taste but it seems Ada likes it.

Highlight of the day was the boat trip / Vrhunac danas je bila vožnja brodićem

Does she have eyes? / Ima li oči?

2

Driving the kids to the kindergarten we stopped at the traffic lights. Outside was an African black woman in exotic colorful clothes. You couldn’t miss her. Ada told me to look at her!
I wanted to hear what Ada saw and told her that I do not know whom to look at. I asked her what she sees expecting her to say a black woman.
Since yesterday Ada had a discussion about blindness the whole morning (no clue why but she comes up with weird themes sometimes) she told me, a little bit shocked, that the  sees a woman with no eyes (?). I first didn’t get it but then I saw that the woman was looking down so her eyes looked closed when looking from our car. I had to explain to Ada the reason it looks like the woman doesn’t have eyes and then we continued discussing eyes. Ada’s questions where like does everyone have eyes? What if they don’t, and so on but the top question was “what will a person do if it doesn’t have a head? ”
Well, I have no answer to that one do I 😀

Bosanska Krupa

3

On 1.st of May the weather turned quite chilly in Crikvenica so we decided to move on to Bosanska Krupa in Bosnia. My father is also there and he was organizing a barbeque party to celebrate the 1.st of May. Well I thought it will be four of us, my father and maybe someone more. Instead I was lucky to meet half my family 🙂
Last time we were so many on one spot was on my grandmothers funeral.
My uncle “dajdza Adnan” had “the honor” to barbecue the lambs and the rest of us enjoyed.

My surprise when entering our “garden”. Previously in front of the house was a small field where we were playing. However, lately our neighbours seem to have forgotten to take care of it and now we literally have a forest in front.

Well, I know it does look a little bit awkward, but it does taste great.
Still some missing here…

Crikvenica

4

Since, Ensar was supposed to have two weeks off from work we decided to go to Crikvenica despite not being here in high season.
I was a little bit sceptical to going there in the beginning but the weather turned out to be fabulous making me wonder why there are so few tourists here.
Actually, I do not wonder I know (that would be another post though) but I can say this much, the weather during the day is around 23-25 degrees, sunshine and a little bit windy from time to time. It is absolutely perfect for taking walks, drinking coffee, wine and eating out. I find it perfect with kids also, because the sun is not too strong and one doesn’t have to keep the kids indoors from 12 to 15h (usually longer) as in high season in the summer.
Unfortunately, despite being here Adrian is not recovering and has quite a bad cough and fever. Thus, tomorrow we are going to the specialist clinic of respiratory diseases located here in Crikvenica to see that his cold is not going down to the lungs.
Today, while Ensar was showering Adrian and I was looking for his clothes Ada took a knife and wanted to cut the cucumber in pieces ending by cutting herself in the hand. That was her first cut and she got so scared she cried and cried and it was hard time to calm her down. Finally, after three stories she fell asleep.

First sentence / Prva rečenica

4

Yesterday morning Adrian managed to say his first sentence…It was a mixture of Swedish and Bosnian and he said “dje je apa?” (gdje je (bosnian: where is) apa (swedish: monkey) meaning “where is the monkey?
All three of us Ada, Ensar and I where in the room as he said it and we got all caught by the surprise but we got also very happy and proudJučer je Adrian izgovorio svoju prvu rečenicu…Jest da je bila mješavina švedskog i bosanskog ali razumijeli smo ga.

In my deepest misery I was buying medicaments like people buy candies. I said to myself, when I get better I will go to the city and I will buy anything I need.
Last week then I felt a little bit better and went for a spontaneous coffee with a friend…ending up in Tk-maxx AND Roppenheim outlet in France. I bought 3 pairs of Asics, 2 pairs of Levis, shoes for the kids t-shirts, a jacket, sun cream, a day moisteuriser, a night moisturiser, a serum from instytutum and a pair of sunglasses. I have to say I prefer buying things like that than medicaments 🙂

Spring is coming, girls. Time to dress up!
Cure, dolazi proljeće. Vrijeme se srediti!

Fonds / Fondovi

2

Last couple of months I have started saving in different funds. The problem I experience is that I cannot buy foreign stocks on my Swedish accounts because I do not live in Sweden and thus funds have became the only way I can diversify my portfolio towards a more global spread. But also, I do not have the time to check separate stocks and I feel that a fund is a good way to get stocks that I like.
I decided on funds that are not having a very high management fees (except the Ny teknik -fund that has it). Having these funds I actually get access to companies like Alibaba, Samsung , Alphabet (Google), FB, Investor and so on.

So the funds I am regularly buying are (management fees in %):

  • SEB Sverigefond (1.4%),
  • Spiltan Aktiefond Investmentbo (0.27%),
  • Swedbank Robur Access Asien (0,2%),
  • Swedbank Robur Access Global (0,27%),
  • Swedbank Robur Ny teknik (1,36%) and
  • Spiltan räntefond Sverige (0,24%).

The Räntefond is a bond fund that I hope will be a little like an airbag in case of a stockmarket crash.

Funny now, when making this list I noticed that I am buying the wrong fond SEB Sverigefond instead of SEB Sverige Indexfond that costs 0.42% in management fee instead of 1.4%, but also I should probably start relocating some of the savings to the more stable bond funds.
The minimal sum of investing is 10 Euro and there is no brokerage fee when buying funds (in Sweden).
These are also not a recommendation but everyone has to make their own choice of which stocks or funds to buy.

Here is a fun page where you can enter how much money you save and the effect of the compound effect has on your saving.

  • SEB Sverigefond (1.4%),
  • Spiltan Aktiefond Investmentbo (0.27%),
  • Swedbank Robur Access Asien (0,2%),
  • Swedbank Robur Access Global (0,27%),
  • Swedbank Robur Ny teknik (1,36%) and

A healthy man has thousands of wishes, a sick man has only one…After having have experienced the worst month and a half ever it has made me think of myself. Last week I got tonsilitis, otitis a headache from hell where I had the feeling that my head will literally explode. No painkillers helped. My balance crashed, the fever was high no matter what I took. I dehydrated, I puked so finally the emergency docs had to come to check me up. My ligaments where hurting. I was lying for days in the bed. Whining of pain. sleeping and not sleeping. I don’t even know anymore. In all this misery I wondered how do people having much more serious health problems motivate themselves?

For the first time in weeks I felt good enough to get out from the apartment. It felt wonderful! This simple thing to take a walk is just magic. Unfortunately it is not in Hagapark or at the magic place in Ade in Krupa but still. It is good enough. Today, I had a walk in a small forest and felt hope when I saw the anemones. I am almost through this illness and I am lucky I made it. It is almost over. The spring is back! Lezala sam danima u krevetu. Plakala sam od bolova. Spavala sam a i nisam.

Nationality / Nacionalnost

3

Sometimes one gets surprised how fabulous kids are. Me and Ensar where talking with Ada about a new girl in their kindergarden. We have heard she has an exotic name and thus asked Ada if the girl is turkish or arabic. Ada looked confused at us and said: She is just a little girl.
Me and Ensar looked at each other and where so fascinated. Ada has no concept of nationalities. For her there is no “turkish or arabic girl” there is just  ” a girl”. I will do my best that it stays like that as long as possible.
This made me think of one of my favorit songs Imagine of John Lennon.

Dobel tobogganing / Sankanje u Dobelu

3

Last night the snow started falling and when Ada saw it she immediately made us promise to go tobogganing with her today if there is any snow left. So in the morning she was excited about getting ready for tobogganing. We didn’t really find a place for it so we ended up in a small village called Dobel. They had the perfect hill for tobogganing beginners.
